An unhealthy diet can damage your metabolism, cause weight gain and even hurt organs, such as your heart and liver. But what you eat also impacts another organ — your skin.
As scientists learn more about diet and the body, it's increasingly clear that what you eat can significantly affect the health and aging of your skin.
This video takes a look at 5 of the best-foods for keeping your skin healthy.
1.Fatty Fish
Fatty-fish, such as salmon, mackerel and herring, are excellent foods for healthy-skin. They are rich sources of omega-3 fatty acids, which are important for maintaining skin-health. Omega-3 fatty acids are necessary to keep skin thick, supple and moisturized. In fact, a deficiency in omega-3 fats can cause dry skin.
The omega-3 fats in fish reduce inflammation, which can cause redness and acne. They can even make your skin less-sensitive to the sun's harmful UV rays
Fatty-fish is also a source of vitamin E, one of the most important antioxidants for your skin. Getting enough vitamin E is essential for protecting your skin against damage from free radicals and inflammation.

2.Avocados
Avocados are high in healthy-fats. These fats benefit many functions in your body, including the health of your skin.
Getting enough of these fats is essential to keep skin flexible and moisturized.
One study in over 700 women found that a high intake of total fat — specifically the types of healthy-fats found in avocados — was associated with more supple, springy skin.
3.Red or Yellow Bell Peppers
Bell peppers are an excellent source of beta-carotene, which your body converts into Vitamin-A.
One cup of chopped red bell pepper contains the equivalent of 92% of the Reference Daily Intake of vitamin A.
They’re also one of the best sources of vitamin C, necessary for creating the protein collagen which keeps skin firm and strong. A single cup of bell pepper provides an impressive 317% of the Reference Daily Intake of vitamin C.
A large observational study in women linked eating plenty of vitamin C to a reduced risk of wrinkled and dry skin with age.

4.Broccoli
Broccoli is full of many vitamins and minerals important for skin health, including zinc, vitamin A and vitamin C. It also contains lutein, a carotenoid that works like beta-carotene. Lutein protects your skin from oxidative damage, which can cause your skin to become dry and wrinkled.
But broccoli florets also pack a special compound called sulforaphane, which boasts some impressive potential benefits. It may even have anti-cancer effects, including on some types of skin cancer.
5.Green Tea
Green tea may protect your skin from damage and aging. The powerful compounds found in green tea are called catechins work to improve the health of your skin in several ways.
Like several other antioxidant-containing foods, green-tea can help protect your skin against sun damage. While green-tea is a great choice for healthy skin, you may want to avoid drinking your tea with milk, as milk could reduce the impact of green tea’s antioxidants.

When it comes to exercise, it's no secret that running is good for you. But do you know what happens to your body when you run? I'm not just talking about sweating and getting out of breath.
Much like yoga and strength training, running provides so many healthful benefits. The rad thing about it is that you don't even need to run a marathon. A short and sweet morning or lunch workout will still do your body good. Each and every effort will matter; it all adds-up in the end.
If you are wondering about what really goes on in your body, check this list out. Hopefully, it will encourage you to add more runs to your exercise regime. You and your body totally deserve-it!

1. Your heart rate increases
If there's one thing we all know, it's this: when you run, your heart-rate increases. The more intense the workout, the faster your heart-beats. As a result, various aspects of your body reap the benefits.

2. Blood circulation increases
Exercise causes the heart muscle to contract faster. More blood moves throughout your body, ensuring that each and every part is fueled and ready to go.

3. Your heart muscle gets stronger
Running gives your heart the workout it deserves. As it contracts and pumps blood, it becomes bigger and stronger. This way, it'll do a better job of getting enough nutrients and oxygen around your body.
4. Oxygen uptake rises
As your blood takes a trip around the body, oxygen uptake increases. It delivers oxygen straight to the brain, skin, and organs, making sure everything is in tip top shape. These body parts need adequate oxygen in order to be the best that they can be.

5.It boosts brain-power
Along with your heart, your brain becomes stronger when you run. As oxygen reaches your brain, new neural connections form. Memory making neurotransmitters are also enhanced during physical activity. Again, this comes down to your brain's hunger for oxygen uptake and blood-circulation.

6.Stress is reduced
Let's face it — stress is a normal part of life. We all feel bogged-down every now and then, especially during big life changes or deadlines. When you run, your brain produces less stress hormones and more endorphins. This is essential for relaxing your senses and clearing your head.

7.Muscles strengthen
When you run, your muscles tear ever so slightly. Your body then rebuilds them. This is exactly how muscles become defined and strong. And because running requires the entire body to move, multiple muscles will reap the benefits.

8.Your mood improves
This goes hand in hand with stress reduction. Running is an awesome way to boost self-confidence and personal outlook on one's self. It also enhances the brain's production of specific neurotransmitters that makes you feel better.

9.Sleeping gets better
After a good run, you're more likely to get an awesome night's rest. After all, getting enough shut eye is vital for overall health. It's crucial for proper focus, concentration and all around badassery.

For many centuries, people of tropical areas know about the wonderful health benefits of tender coconut water, which comes from young green coconut. Each nut contains about 200 to 1000 milliliters of coconut water.

Tender coconut water contains more nutrients than mature coconut water. This health drink poses the anti-aging hormone cytokinins, which has antithrombotic and anticancer properties. Keep watching to know what coconut water can do to your body.

1. Relief from Hangovers
Coconut water is a great natural remedy for hangovers. Alcohol reduces water in your body and it causes dehydration after your morning blues. Coconut water replenishes electrolyte in the body and enhances hydration, which makes you feel better. Antioxidants in coconut water fight oxidative stress due to excessive alcohol intake.
2.Balances pH
Acidic foods, stress, and toxins, often contribute to acidic pH levels that cause less energy and reduce the body’s ability to absorb vitamins and minerals. An acidic pH contributes to problems like stressed liver function, rheumatoid arthritis, osteoporosis, diabetes, hypertension and deficiency of immunity. Coconut water has an alkalizing effect that helps restore a healthy pH in the body.
3.Natural Diuretic
Coconut water acts as a natural diuretic, thus, promotes production and flow of urine. It cleanses your body’s toxic substances. It also helps prevent problems like urinary tract infections.
Due to its high potassium content, coconut water helps to accumulate urine and helps in dissolving some types of kidney-stones so that they get out of the body.

4.Promotes Weight Loss
Coconut water is an ideal beverage for weight-loss. It is low in calories and is easy on the stomach. In fact, this light and fresh drinks contain various bioactive enzymes which help boost metabolism and digestion of fat.
In addition, coconut water is rich in potassium, which helps to balance sodium. Excessive sodium causes water retention in the body making you look fat. Coconut water helps to extract excess water as well as toxins from your body.
5.Reduces Blood Pressure
Coconut water is considered good for controlling hypertension, thanks to its vitamin c, potassium, and magnesium content. Potassium, in particular, helps to reduce blood pressure by balancing the negative effects of sodium.
6.Beneficial after prolonged exercise
Coconut water may be the perfect beverage for restoring hydration and replenishing electrolytes lost during exercise.
Electrolytes are minerals that play several important roles in the body, including maintaining proper fluid-balance.
They include potassium, magnesium, sodium and calcium.
Two studies found that coconut water restored hydration after exercise better than water and equal to high-electrolyte sports beverages.
7.May have antioxidant properties
Free radicals are unstable molecules that are produced in your cells during metabolism. Their production increases in response to stress or injury.
When there are too many free radicals, the body is said to be in a state of oxidative stress, which can damage cells and increase the risk of disease
Research on animals exposed to toxins has shown that coconut water contains antioxidants, modifying free radicals so they no longer cause harm.

There are many different weight loss solutions out there. This includes all sorts of pills, drugs and natural supplements. These are claimed to help you lose weight, or at least make it easier to lose weight combined with other methods. They tend to work via one or more of these mechanisms:
Reduce appetite, making you feel more full so that you eat fewer calories
Reduce absorption of nutrients like fat, making you take in fewer calories
Increase fat burning, making you burn more calories
Here are the 5 most popular weight loss pills and supplements, reviewed by science.

1.Green Tea Extract
Green tea extract is a popular ingredient in many weight loss supplements. This is because numerous studies have shown the main antioxidant in it, EGCG, to aid fat burning. Green tea extract is believed to increase the activity of norepinephrine, a hormone that helps you burn fat. Many human studies have shown that green tea extract can increase fat burning and cause fat loss, especially in the belly area.

2.Green Coffee Bean Extract
Green coffee beans are simply normal coffee beans that haven't been roasted. They contain two substances believed to help with weight loss, caffeine and chlorogenic acid. Caffeine can increase fat burning, and chlorogenic acid can slow the breakdown of carbohydrates in the gut.
Several human studies have shown that green coffee bean extract can help people lose weight. Green coffee bean extract may help lower blood sugar levels, and reduce blood pressure. It is also high in antioxidants.

3.Raspberry Ketones
Raspberry ketone is a substance found in raspberries, which is responsible for their distinct smell. A synthetic version of raspberry ketones is sold as a weight loss supplement. In isolated fat cells from rats, raspberry ketones increase breakdown of fat and increase levels of a hormone called adiponectin, believed to be related to weight loss.
There is not a single study on raspberry ketones in humans, but one rat study using massive doses showed that they reduced weight gain
.
4.Hydroxycut
Hydroxycut has been around for more than a decade, and is currently one of the most popular weight loss supplements in the world. There are several different types, but the most common one is simply called "Hydroxycut." It contains several ingredients that are claimed to help with weight loss, including caffeine and a few plant extracts. One study showed that it caused 21 lbs of weight loss over a 3-month period

5.Garcinia Cambogia Extract
It is a small, green fruit, shaped like a pumpkin. The skin of the fruit contains hydroxycitric acid. This is the active ingredient in garcinia cambogia extract, which is marketed as a diet pill. Animal studies show that it can inhibit a fat-producing enzyme in the body and increase levels of serotonin, potentially helping to reduce cravings.
One study with 130 people compared garcinia against a dummy pill. There was no difference in weight or body fat percentage between groups.

Losing weight isn’t as easy as popping a few magical pills. However, there are a few vitamins and minerals you can take to ensure your body is functioning as efficiently as possible for weight loss.
A well-balanced diet can fulfill most of your nutrient needs. But if you’re on a limited diet, adding a few safe vitamin supplements could provide the extra boost you need to stay on track with your healthy weight loss regimen.
When it comes to weight loss, not all vitamins and minerals are created equal. Keep watching to find out which ones can help you shed excess weight and keep it off.

1.B vitamins
These vitamins are essential for a fully functioning metabolism. The main function of the B vitamins is to help your body metabolize carbohydrates, proteins, and fats, and to use the stored energy in food.
Thiamine (B-1), for example, helps the body cells convert carbohydrates into energy. In other words, low levels of one or more of these vitamins means your metabolism won’t be functioning at its best. This makes losing weight even harder.

2.Vitamin D
Vitamin-D is critical to a healthy immune-system.
Your body can get all the vitamin D it needs courtesy of the sun. Yet most people today spend too much time indoors, or they live in climates where the sun doesn’t always shine.
Getting enough Vitamin-D from food is difficult, so supplements are often recommended. Adequate levels of Vitamin-D may also help prevent depression, according to some research. A positive attitude is also fundamental for an effective diet.
A 2011 study found that overweight and obese adults taking calcium and vitamin D supplements lost significantly more stomach fat than people not taking any supplements.

3.Iron
Iron plays a role in helping your body create energy from nutrients. Iron helps carry oxygen to all of the cells in your body, including your muscles. This, in turn, helps them burn-fat.
Too little iron can lead to iron deficiency anemia, which is one of the most common nutritional deficiencies in the United-States.
Symptoms of iron-deficiency anemia include:
• fatigue
• weakness
• low energy-levels
Low iron levels also reduce your physical endurance and athletic performance.

4.Magnesium
Magnesium is necessary for energy production in the body. This mineral acts as a cofactor in more than 300 enzyme-systems. These systems are responsible for a wide range of reactions in the body, including:
• controlling blood-glucose
• regulating blood-pressure
• keeping bones strong
• keeping the nervous-system functioning smoothly
Dietary surveys of people in the United States regularly show that magnesium intakes are too low. A magnesium supplement can ensure you’re getting enough of it.

5.Green tea extract
It’s technically not a vitamin or mineral, but green-tea extract is one of the few marketed supplements worth a second look. Green-tea is thought to increase energy expenditure and fat oxidation, and to reduce fat-production and absorption.
The extract of this popular beverage is known to contain powerful flavonoid antioxidants known as catechins. Green-tea also contains a healthy dose of caffeine.

Even among today's back-to-basics foodie fads, microwave ovens retain their presence in almost every home. From reheating leftovers to quickly heating water, the convenience they offer is a major time-saver.
But if you're only using your microwave to heat food, then here are few other things you can do with your microwave that you probably didn’t know about.
1.Quickly peel a head of garlic
No one likes peeling garlic—it's messy, time-consuming, and the garlic juice and smell sticks to your fingers all day long. So what's the trick? Heat a head of garlic in the microwave for about 20 seconds and the cloves will slide right out of their skins, hassle-free.
2.Get more juice from a lemon or lime
The next time you're juicing lemons for lemonade or limes for a daiquiri, microwave them for 10-20 seconds. The heat excites the water molecules making the flesh softer and weaker, which makes the lemon easier to squeeze and the membranes holding the juice easier to burst, you'll get more juice out of your lemons. Just resist the urge to serve your guests a science lesson with their drink.

3.Sanitize glass.
Putting water into a glass container and heating it in a microwave for two minutes will kill germs without overheating the glass, this method is often used to sterilize mason jars and baby bottles.

4.Sterilize gardening soil.
Gardeners occasionally want to sterilize soil to eliminate diseases, weed seeds, and pests. Microwave two pounds of moist soil in a ventilated microwave-safe container for 2-minutes, depending on wattage.

5.Take the sting out of onions.
Don't cry! Cut just the ends off the onion, then microwave it for 30-seconds, and you'll be able to chop the rest of the vegetable without shedding a tear.

6.Poached eggs.
Put boiling water in a microwave safe bowl and add some white vinegar and crack the egg into the bowl. Lightly pierce the yolk with a toothpick and cover the bowl with cling wrap. Microwave for 30-seconds. Turn the egg over and cook again for 20 more seconds and enjoy!

7.Make brownies

Just mix all the dry ingredients (flour, sugar, cocoa, salt, and cinnamon) in the mug and mix in the wet ingredients (oil, water, and vanilla) until there are no-lumps. Then, nuke everything in the microwave on high until the mixture is cooked through, which will take about 2-minutes. Microwaveable brownies are perfect for when the sugar craving strikes out of the blue.

8.Make potato chips

Slice some potatoes as thin as you can and arrange them on a plate. Now microwave them in 3-minute bursts, flipping them and decreasing the power level each time. Go forth and impress your friends!

9.Clean the microwave.
Did you know that microwaves are self-cleaning ovens? Simply squeeze some lemon juice into a microwave-safe bowl of water, then drop the lemon halves into the bowl. Run the microwave for 4-5 minutes and let the hot water and citric-acid do their thing. Remove the bowl and wipe everything clean!

Valerian root is native to Europe, although today it can be found growing wild in grasslands of parts of Asia and in North-America. The name of this herb comes from the Latin verb “valere,” which means to be strong and healthy.
Here are 7 health benefits of valerian root

1.Treats sleep disorders
Valerian root has long been used as a sleep aid. It’s been shown in studies to increase the level of gamma-aminobutyric acid that helps regulate nerve cells, providing a calming effect.
Getting quality rest, which generally means 7 to 8 hours of sleep each night, can also eliminate a host of other problems as a lack of sleep can lead to weight gain, a diminished sex-drive, an inability to focus, a greater likelihood of accidents, and other issues.

2.Eases anxiety
For the same reason valerian helps battle insomnia and other sleep disorders, by increasing the amount of GABA in the brain due to its valerenol and valerenic acid content, it can ease anxiety, acting like an anti-anxiety medication such as Valium and Xanax.

3.Lowers blood pressure and supports heart health
Valerian not only relaxes the mind and body, but it can strengthen your blood-vessels and improve their elasticity as well as to lower blood pressure to support better heart health, thanks to the same active compounds that make it so valuable for managing stress and anxiety.

4.Supports skin health
Using the oil of valerian root, valerian essential oil, topically – but diluted in a carrier oil – can significantly benefit your skin as it infuses it with protective compounds, including antioxidants, that can help prevent wrinkles from developing as well as serving as an antiviral barrier to decrease the risk of illness. It can also reduce dryness, keeping the skin more supple.

5.Boosts brain power and protects against cognitive disorders
Valerian root has long been heralded for its ability to boost brain power and enhance cognitive abilities, including increasing mental alertness and cognitive function in elderly patients with dementia. It helps to stimulate various areas of the brain as well as improve blood circulation, and it may help protect memory and delay the onset of dementia or Alzheimer’s disease.

6.Helps to control stress levels
By lessening anxiety as well as improving both the quality and duration of sleep, valerian root can play a big part in controlling stress levels. By raising GABA levels in the body, it helps both the mind and body relax, providing the antidote to stress.

7.Soothes the pain of menstrual cramps and PMS
The calming nature of valerian root has also made it a popular plant for treating menstrual cramps as it can reduce their severity and discomfort – a common problem for women who have difficult periods every month.
It helps because it acts as a natural sedative, as well as an antispasmodic, which means that it suppresses muscle-spasms, similar to a muscle relaxer. Valerian root calms severe uterine muscle contractions which is what causes the extreme pain that many women experience during menstruation.

Activated charcoal was once considered the universal antidote.
Nowadays, it continues to be promoted as a potent natural treatment.
What Is Activated Charcoal?
Activated charcoal is a fine black-powder made from bone char, coconut-shells, peat, petroleum-coke, coal, olive-pits or sawdust.
The charcoal is "activated" by processing it at very high temperatures. The high temperatures change its internal structure, reducing the size of its pores and increasing its surface-area.
This results in a charcoal that is more porous than regular charcoal.
Activated charcoal shouldn't be confused with charcoal-briquettes that are used to light your barbecue.
While both can be made from the same base materials, charcoal-briquettes have not been "activated" at high temperatures.
How Does Activated Charcoal Work?
Activated charcoal works by trapping toxins and chemicals in the gut, preventing their absorption.
The charcoal's porous texture has a negative electrical-charge, which causes it to attract positively charged molecules, such as toxins and gases. This helps it trap toxins and chemicals in the gut.
Because activated charcoal is not absorbed by your body, it can carry the toxins bound to its surface out of your body in feces.
Here are some Amazing uses of Activated charcoal.
1.It Removes Toxins from The Body
Most pesticides and harmful chemicals bind to the surface of activated charcoal, helping to prevent absorption in the body.
Activated-charcoal can also be used in cases of food poisoning, when nausea and diarrhea are present. Adults should take 25-grams when symptoms arise. Children should be given 10-grams.
2.It Whitens Teeth
Stains from coffee, tea, wine or other foods can be eliminated by activated-charcoal.
It also promotes oral health by improving the pH balance in the mouth, preventing cavities, and getting rid of bad-breath. To whiten teeth, wet a toothbrush and dip it into activated-charcoal before brushing.

3.It Cleanses the Digestive System
Activated charcoal can be used to help promote a healthy digestive-tract. It works to remove toxins from the body that may cause poor immune system function, allergic reactions, or oxidative damage. Removing toxins from your system can also help reduce joint-pain, provide an energy boost and increase mental function. To cleanse the digestive system, take 10-grams of activated charcoal 90-minutes before each meal for two days.
4.It Treats Acne
Mix one capsule of activated charcoal with two teaspoons of Aloe-Vera-gel, then spread onto the face. Let the mixture dry then rinse. The activated-charcoal will bind with toxins and dirt on the skin that contribute to acne.

5.It Alleviates Gas
A study in the American Journal of Gastroenterology found that activated charcoal helps to prevent intestinal gas following a meal. To reduce gas and bloating, take 500-milligrams 1-hour before a typical gas-producing meal and follow with a full glass of water.

6.It Helps Lower Cholesterol
Studies have shown that activated charcoal can lower bad cholesterol and raise good cholesterol levels. One study found that LDL cholesterol decreased by 41% while HDL increased by 8% when participants took three doses of eight grams each for a period of 4-weeks.
